The large releases at Oracle OpenWorld 2014: Oracle Cloud Services

by Douwe Pieter van den Bos on September 30, 2014 · 0 comments

This years’ OpenWorld has a lot to do about new services that are added to the cloud portfolio of Oracle. There has been a large change in new releases offering more integration and flexibility to a heterogeneous application environment.

For instance the Oracle Integration Cloud Services will help organizations to combine various cloud (SaaS) services and their on-premise applications. Oracle is hereby the first of the large IT corporations that recognize the need for combining offerings.

The application portfolio of a random organization will never be consisting of silos of applications. The modern organization will always combine information streams to create a unique pattern for their environment. Silos are nonexistent. Therefore offering Software as a Service alone will not be enough for the modern workforce.

Challenges around security and privacy remain a key subject when we talk cloud. As it seems there are a lot of offerings that Oracle is adding to their portfolio that address these topics. Combining the power of Oracle Identity Management and Governance in the various cloud offerings (Integration Cloud Service, Mobile Service and Big Data Service) Oracle will have a large competitive advantage.
